ในวันที่ 30 มีนาคม 2569 เลขานุการรัฐมนตรีฯ ได้เป็นเจ้าภาพอาหารกลางวันแก่นาง Kothari ณ ห้องอาหารระวีกัลยา โดยมีสมาชิกวุฒิสภานำโดยนายชวภณ วัธนเวคิน รองประธานคณะกรรมาธิการการต่างประเทศ คนที่หนึ่ง และนายปัญญา อุดชาชน ที่ปรึกษาเลขาธิการสถาบันพระปกเกล้า เข้าร่วมด้วย โดยในภายหลังจากนั้น เลขานุการรัฐมนตรีฯ ได้เข้าร่วมการประชุมเชิงปฏิบัติการเกี่ยวกับการประเมินทางเทคนิคของ OECD สำหรับหน่วยงานไทย ณ กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ โดยมีนายเชษฐพันธ์ มากสัมพันธ์ รองปลัดกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ กล่าวเปิด และนาง Kothari เป็นวิทยากรให้ข้อมูลแก่ผู้แทนหน่วยงานไทยกว่า 80 คน จาก 36 หน่วยงาน นอกจากนี้ เลขานุการรัฐมนตรีฯ ยังได้เข้าร่วมการประชุมระหว่างนางสาวรุจิกร แสงจันทร์ อธิบดีกรมเศรษฐกิจระหว่างประเทศ กับนาง Kothari และผู้แทนสำนักงานสภาพัฒนาการเศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห่งชาติและสำนักงานคณะกรรมการกฤษฎีกา ซึ่งเป็นสามหน่วยงานหลักของไทยในการประสานงานกับ OECD ในเรื่องการสมัครเป็นสมาชิก

ในวันเดียวกัน นางสาวปรางทิพย์ จันทร์สมศักดิ์ รองอธิบดีกรมเศรษฐกิจระหว่างประเทศ ยังได้ร่วมกับนาง Kothari กล่าวเปิดการประชุม Second Co-Creation Workshop with Southeast Asia Countries on the OECD AI Policy Toolkit เพื่อส่งเสริมความร่วมมือด้านการพัฒนาและธรรมาภิบาลด้านปัญญาประดิษฐ์ระหว่าง OECD กับภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ณ ทำเนียบเอกอัครราชทูตญี่ปุ่นประจำประเทศไทย โดยมีนาย Masato Otaka เอกอัครราชทูตญี่ปุ่นประจำประเทศไทย และนาย David Thomas รองหัวหน้าคณะผู้แทนสถานเอกอัครราชทูตสหราชอาณาจักรประจำประเทศไทย ร่วมกล่าวด้วย

ในการเยือนไทยครั้งนี้ นาง Kothari ได้พบปะหารือกับภาคส่วนต่าง ๆ อย่างครอบคลุม โดยเมื่อวันที่ 31 มีนาคม 2569 ได้พบหารือกับผู้แทนคณะกรรมการร่วมภาคเอกชน 3 สถาบัน ผู้แทนสหภาพแรงงานไทย ตลอดจนบรรยายในหัวข้อ “OECD และประโยชน์ที่ไทยจะได้รับจากการเข้าเป็นสมาชิก” ให้แก่นักศึกษาและสาธารณชนที่สนใจที่สถาบันเอเชียศึกษา จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย โดยมีศาสตราจารย์ ดร. วิเลิศ ภูริวัชร อธิการบดีจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย กล่าวเปิดงาน

อนึ่ง การสมัครเป็นสมาชิก OECD เป็นวาระแห่งชาติของไทย และขณะนี้ไทยอยู่ระหว่างการประเมินทางเทคนิคจาก 25 คณะกรรมการของ OECD โดยไทยตั้งเป้าหมายที่จะเข้าเป็นสมาชิก OECD ภายในปี 2571 ซึ่งจะเกี่ยวข้องกับการปรับปรุงกฎหมาย นโยบายและแนวปฏิบัติให้สอดคล้องกับ OECD อันจะช่วยยกระดับขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขัน พัฒนาสภาพแวดล้อมทางธุรกิจที่เอื้ออำนวย และเสริมสร้างความเชื่อมั่นต่อประเทศไทยในภาพรวม

On 30 March 2026, the Secretary to the Foreign Minister hosted a luncheon in honor of Ms. Kothari at The Raweekanlaya Dining. The luncheon was also attended by members of the Senate, led by Mr. Chavaphon Wattanavekin, First Vice-Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Panya Udchachon, Special Advisor to the Secretary-General of the King Prajadhipok’s Institute. Afterwards, the Secretary to the Foreign Minister participated in the “Workshop on OECD Technical Review for Thailand’s Line Agencies” at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, delivered the opening remarks and Ms. Kothari presented to over 80 representatives from 36 Thai agencies. In addition, the Secretary to the Foreign Minister also attended a meeting between Ms. Rujikorn Saengchantr, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, and Ms Kothari, as well as representatives from the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) and the Office of Council of State (OCS). These agencies, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, serve as the three key coordinating agencies for Thailand’s OECD accession process.

On the same day, Ms. Prangthip Chansomsak, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, together with Ms. Kothari, jointly delivered the opening remarks for the “Second Co-Creation Workshop with Southeast Asia Countries on the OECD AI Policy Toolkit,” which was aimed to promote cooperation on AI governance and development between the OECD and Southeast Asia, at the residence of the Japanese Ambassador to Thailand. H.E. Mr. Masato Otaka, Ambassador of Japan to Thailand, and Mr. David Thomas, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Thailand, also delivered remarks.

During this visit, Ms. Kothari engaged inclusively with various relevant stakeholders. On 31 March 2026, she held discussions with representatives of the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB) and Thai labor unions. Ms. Kothari also delivered a lecture on “The OECD and Benefits of Thailand’s Accession” to students andthe interested public at the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University, which was presided by Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University.

Thailand’s accession to the OECD is a national priority. In the current phase of OECD’s Technical Review, Thailand is engaging with 25 OECD Committees with the target of becoming an OECD member by 2028. To achieve this, Thailand will undertake improvements of its laws, policies, and practices in line with OECD standards. These efforts are expected to enhance the country’s competitiveness, improve the business environment, and strengthen overall confidence in Thailand.
