          เมื่อวันที่ 24 กุมภาพันธ์ 2568 นางสาลินี ผลประไพ รองอธิบดีกรมเศรษฐกิจระหว่างประเทศเป็นประธานการประชุมเรื่องการขับเคลื่อนพันธกิจการเป็นประเทศหุ้นส่วนกลุ่ม BRICS ของประเทศไทย  ณ วิเทศสโมสร กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ โดยมีผู้แทนจากหน่วยงานภาครัฐและภาคเอกชนไทย จำนวน 25 หน่วยงาน เข้าร่วมการประชุม

          การประชุมดังกล่าวมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสร้างความตระหนักรู้และความเข้าใจแก่หน่วยงานต่าง ๆ ของไทยเกี่ยวกับการเข้าเป็นประเทศหุ้นส่วนกลุ่ม BRICS พร้อมหารือเกี่ยวกับสาขาความร่วมมือเป้าหมายและแผนงานขับเคลื่อนการเป็นประเทศหุ้นส่วน ภายใต้ความร่วมมือ 3 เสาของ BRICS ได้แก่ (1) ด้านการเมืองและความมั่นคง (2) ด้านเศรษฐกิจและการเงิน และ (3) ด้านวัฒนธรรมและความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประชาชน

           ในภาพรวม หน่วยงานต่าง ๆ เห็นพ้องว่าความร่วมมือในกรอบ BRICS เป็นประโยชน์ต่อไทย โดยเฉพาะด้านสาธารณสุข วิทยาศาสตร์ เทคโนโลยี และนวัตกรรม การท่องเที่ยว เศรษฐกิจสร้างสรรค์ และความร่วมมือเพื่อการพัฒนา ทั้งยังเป็นอีกช่องทางในการส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์กับกับประเทศสมาชิกและหุ้นส่วนของ BRICS จึงพร้อมร่วมขับเคลื่อนให้ไทยมีบทบาทที่แข็งขันใน BRICS ยิ่งขึ้นต่อไปในอนาคต

          อนึ่ง ไทยได้เป็นประเทศหุ้นส่วนของกลุ่ม BRICS ตั้งแต่วันที่ 1 มกราคม 2568 ซึ่งถือเป็นก้าวสำคัญของการเตรียมความพร้อมเข้าเป็นประเทศสมาชิกกลุ่ม BRICS ในอนาคตต่อไป

          On 24 February 2025, Mrs. Salinee Phonprapai, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, chaired an inter-agency meeting focused on advancing Thailand’s BRICS Partnership. The meeting was held at Vithes Samosorn Auditorium, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and was attended by representatives from 25 government and private sector agencies.

          The meeting aimed to raise awareness and understanding among Thai public and private sector agencies about Thailand's partnership with BRICS. During the session, priority areas of cooperation and next steps for Thailand as a BRICS partner country were discussed, covering all three pillars of cooperation: (1) Politics and Security, (2) Economy and Finance, and (3) Culture and People-to-People Relations.

          Overall, participants agreed that there would be a number of potential benefits of BRICS cooperation for Thailand, especially in areas such as public health, science, technology and innovation, tourism, creative economy and development cooperation. They concurred that BRICS is a vital channel to strengthen relations between Thailand and BRICS’ s members and partner countries. Agencies also agreed on the importance of actively participating in various BRICS initiatives and projects to bolster Thailand’s proactive role within the group.

          On 1 January 2025, Thailand officially became a BRICS Partner Country. This is an important step towards a future membership of the grouping.
