เมื่อวันที่ 25 กันยายน 2567 นางสาลินี ผลประไพ รองอธิบดีกรมเศรษฐกิจระหว่างประเทศ ได้พบหารือกับนาย Alexander Böhmer, Head of South and Southest Asia, Global Relations and Cooperation Directorate ขององค์การเพื่อความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจและการพัฒนา (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development: OECD) ณ กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ

          ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือในประเด็นการเตรียมความพร้อมสำหรับการเยือนไทยของนายมาทีอัส คอร์มันน์ เลขาธิการ OECD ในฐานะแขกของกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ เพื่อเริ่มกระบวนการหารือการเข้าเป็นสมาชิก OECD ของไทยอย่างเป็นทางการ ระหว่างวันที่ 29 - 31 ตุลาคม 2567  รวมทั้งการสร้างเสริมความร่วมมือเพื่อเพิ่มศักยภาพที่จำเป็นสำหรับการเข้าเป็นสมาชิก OECD ให้แก่หน่วยงานไทย  แนวทางการขับเคลื่อนความร่วมมือโครงการ Southeast Asia Regional Programme (SEARP) และแผนงานของ OECD ในอนาคต

          อนึ่ง ไทยได้รับเชิญเข้าสู่กระบวนการหารือเพื่อเป็นสมาชิก OECD (Accession Discussions) เมื่อเดือนมิถุนายน 2567 และคณะมนตรี OECD ได้รับรองแผนการเข้าเป็นสมาชิก OECD (Accession Roadmap) ของไทย เมื่อเดือนกรกฎาคม 2567 โดยในขั้นตอนต่อไป หน่วยงานไทยที่เกี่ยวข้องจะต้องดำเนินการตามแผนการเข้าเป็นสมาชิกโดยการพัฒนานโยบายและกฎหมายให้สอดคล้องกับมาตรฐานของ OECD ซึ่งเป็นกระบวนการปลายเปิด ทั้งนี้ การเป็นสมาชิก OECD ของไทย จะช่วยเพิ่มขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขัน ปฏิรูปนโยบายและกฎหมายด้านเศรษฐกิจและการพัฒนา ตลอดจนขยายบทบาทของไทยในระบบเศรษฐกิจระหว่างประเทศ

Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs met with Alexander Böhmer, Head of South and Southeast Asia, GRC, OECD

On 25 September 2024, Mrs. Salinee Phonprapai, Deputy Director-General, the Department of International Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, met with Mr. Alexander Böhmer, Head of South and Southeast Asia, Global Relations and Cooperation Directorate, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Both sides discussed preparations for the visit of H.E. Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the OECD, during 29-31 October 2024, which officially marks the start of Thailand’s OECD Accession Discussions. The exchange also addressed cooperation initiatives that would help develop the necessary capacity for Thailand’s agencies, as well as the topic of furthering collaboration through the Southeast Asia Regional Programme (SEARP) and other future endeavors.

Thailand has been invited to begin Accession Discussions since June 2024, and the OECD Council adopted the OECD Accession Roadmap in July 2024. The accession is an open-ended process during which the Thai relevant agencies will need to implement the Accession Roadmap by adjusting policy and regulation to align with the OECD’s standard. In working towards becoming an OECD member, Thailand will raise its competitiveness, help the reform of its economic and developmental policy and regulation, and enhance Thailand’s role in the international economic governance.
