เมื่อวันที่ 3 กันยายน 2569 นางสาวพรพิมล สุคันธวณิช รองอธิบดีกรมเศรษฐกิจระหว่างประเทศพร้อมด้วยผู้แทนกรมอาเซียนและกรมเศรษฐกิจฯ พบหารือกับนาย Pavit Ramachandra, Deputy Director-General, Southeast Asia Department ของธนาคารพัฒนาเอเชีย (Asian Development Bank: ADB)    และคณะ เกี่ยวกับแนวทางการส่งเสริมและกระชับความร่วมมือระหว่างไทยกับ ADB

รองอธิบดีกรมเศรษฐกิจฯ แสดงความยินดีที่นาย Masato Kanda ที่ได้รับเลือกเป็นประธาน ADB สมัยที่ 2 และขอบคุณ ADB สำหรับการสนับสนุนโครงการพัฒนาของไทยอย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยโครงการล่าสุด ได้แก่ โครงการพัฒนาระบบบริการสาธารณสุข รวมถึงการมอบเงินช่วยเหลือแบบให้เปล่าเพื่อนำไปฟื้นฟูและเยียวยา ผู้ประสบภัยจากอุทกภัยในจังหวัดสงขลา โดยฝ่าย ADB ย้ำว่า ไทยเป็นหุ้นส่วนสำคัญในภูมิภาค และประสงค์ยกระดับความร่วมมือใน 3 ด้าน ได้แก่ การเป็นหุ้นส่วนด้านนวัตกรรม การลงทุนของภาคเอกชนโดยเฉพาะในสาขาพลังงานหมุนเวียน ดิจิทัล และศูนย์ข้อมูล และการเงินเพื่อความยั่งยืน นอกจากนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือเกี่ยวกับความร่วมมือภายใต้กรอบอนุภูมิภาคและในระดับภูมิภาค อาทิ กรอบความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจอิรวดี-เจ้าพระยา-แม่โขง (ACMECS) อาเซียน กรอบความร่วมมือเอเชีย (Asia Cooperation Dialogue) และข้อริเริ่มความร่วมมือระหว่างไทย-แอฟริกา (Thailand-Africa Initiative) ซึ่ง ADB แสดงความพร้อมที่จะสนับสนุนไทยทั้งในด้านสารัตถะและเชิงเทคนิค ในการดำรงตำแหน่งประธาน ACMECS ในปี 2570 และการเตรียมการเป็นประธานอาเซียนในปี 2571

ในโอกาสนี้ ฝ่าย ADB ได้แจ้งเพิ่มเติมว่า ประธาน ADB มีกำหนดเข้าร่วมการประชุมประจำปีสภาผู้ว่าการธนาคารโลกและกองทุนการเงินระหว่างประเทศ ปี 2569 ซึ่งไทยจะเป็นเจ้าภาพระหว่างวันที่ 12-18 ต.ค. 2569 ที่กรุงเทพฯ เพื่อเข้าร่วมพิธีลงนามโครงการพัฒนาระบบบริการสาธารณสุข รวมถึงกิจกรรมคู่ขนานต่าง ๆ ในห้วงการประชุมประจำปีฯ

On 3 September 2026, Ms. Pornpimol Sukanthavanich, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, together with representatives of the Department of ASEAN Affairs and the Department of International Economic Affairs, met with Mr. Pavit Ramachandran, Deputy Director-General of the Southeast Asia Department at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and ADB delegation to discuss ways to strengthen Thailand-ADB cooperation.

The Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs extended her congratulations to Mr. Masato Kanda on his re-election as ADB President and thanked ADB for its continued support for Thailand’s development, including the latest Climate-smart Health Services System Enhancement Project, as well as the grant to support rehabilitation efforts and communities devastated by severe flooding in Songkhla province. The ADB side reaffirmed Thailand’s role as a key regional partner and expressed its intention to deepen cooperation in three areas: innovation partnership, private sector investment, particularly in renewable energy, digital infrastructure and data centres, and sustainable finance.

Both sides also discussed cooperation under subregional and regional frameworks, including the Ayeyawady–Chao Phraya–Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS), ASEAN, Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), and Thailand–Africa Initiative (TAI). The ADB side expressed its readiness to provide substantive and technical support for Thailand’s ACMECS Chairmanship in 2027 and preparations for its ASEAN Chairmanship in 2028.

The ADB side further informed that President Masato Kanda is expected to participate in the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings, hosted by Thailand from 12 to 18 October 2026 in Bangkok, to attend the signing ceremony for the Climate-smart Health Services System Enhancement Project and other affiliated programmes on the margins of the Annual Meetings.
