ทั้งสองฝ่ายหารือแนวทางส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระหว่าง OECD กับไทยและอาเซียน รวมถึงด้านแรงงานและทุนมนุษย์ นวัตกรรม และการเสริมสร้างความสามารถในการแข่งขันและความยืดหยุ่นทางเศรษฐกิจ รวมทั้งแลกเปลี่ยนข้อคิดเห็นเรื่องการพัฒนาความร่วมมือที่เป็นรูปธรรมในช่วงที่ไทยจะดำรงตำแหน่งประธานอาเซียนในปี 2571 เพื่อส่งเสริมความเชื่อมโยงระหว่างอาเซียนกับ OECD ให้แน่นแฟ้นยิ่งขึ้น นอกจากนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายยังยืนยันความพร้อมที่จะร่วมมืออย่างใกล้ชิดในกระบวนการเข้าเป็นสมาชิก OECD ของไทย โดย OECD พร้อมสนับสนุนไทยในช่วงการประเมินทางเทคนิคโดย 25 คณะกรรมการเฉพาะด้านของ OECD ตลอดจนการเสริมสร้างขีดความสามารถของหน่วยงานไทยที่เกี่ยวข้อง

การเยือนไทยครั้งนี้เป็นการเยือนครั้งที่สองของรองเลขาธิการฯ ภายหลังการเยือนเมื่อวันที่ 8 ธันวาคม 2568 ในฐานะผู้แทนเลขาธิการ OECD เพื่อรับมอบบันทึกเบื้องต้น (Initial Memorandum: IM) ซึ่งเป็นหมุดหมายสำคัญของกระบวนการเข้าเป็นสมาชิก OECD ของไทย จากนายอนุทิน ชาญวีรกูล นายกรัฐมนตรี ทั้งนี้ การเข้าเป็นสมาชิก OECD เป็นวาระแห่งชาติ โดยรัฐบาลตั้งเป้าหมายให้ไทยเป็นสมาชิกภายในปี 2571 และมุ่งใช้กระบวนการดังกล่าวยกระดับมาตรฐานและขับเคลื่อนการปฏิรูปประเทศ เพื่อเสริมสร้างขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขัน ธรรมาภิบาล สภาพแวดล้อมทางธุรกิจ และความเชื่อมั่นต่อประเทศไทยในระยะยาว

On 27 August 2026, H.E. Mr. Sarun Chareonsuwan, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, hosted a working luncheon in honour of Mr. František Ružička, Deputy Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), on the occasion of the latter’s visit to Thailand to attend the 29th ASEAN Labour Ministers Meeting (ALMM). The Secretary-General of the King Prajadhipok’s Institute, senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a representative of the Office of the Council of State were also in attendance.

Both sides discussed ways to further promote the OECD’s cooperation with Thailand and ASEAN, including in the areas of labour and human capital, innovation, and competitiveness and economic resilience. They also exchanged views on developing concrete areas of cooperation during Thailand’s ASEAN Chairship in 2028, with a view to further strengthening linkages between ASEAN and the OECD. In addition, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to work closely together in support of Thailand’s OECD accession process. The OECD expressed its readiness to support Thailand during the technical review phase conducted by 25 OECD committees, as well as through relevant capacity-building support for Thai agencies.

This visit marked the Deputy Secretary-General’s second visit to Thailand, following his visit on 8 December 2025, on behalf of the OECD Secretary-General, to receive Thailand’s Initial Memorandum, which constituted an important milestone in Thailand’s OECD accession process, from H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister. As such, Thailand’s OECD accession is a national agenda, with the Government aiming to achieve membership by 2028. Thailand also seeks to use the accession process as an opportunity to raise standards and advance domestic reforms, thereby strengthening the country’s competitiveness, governance, business environment and long-term confidence in Thailand.
