เมื่อวันที่ 28–30 เมษายน 2569 ฝ่ายไทยเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดการประชุมเจรจาความตกลงเพื่อการส่งเสริมและคุ้มครองการลงทุน (Bilateral Investment Treaty: BIT) ระหว่างราชอาณาจักรไทยและราชอาณาจักรซาอุดีอาระเบีย รอบที่ 3 โดยมีนางสาลินี ผลประไพ รองอธิบดีกรมเศรษฐกิจระหว่างประเทศ เป็นหัวหน้าคณะเจรจาฝ่ายไทย พร้อมด้วยผู้แทนจากหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องเข้าร่วมการประชุม และผู้เจรจาฝ่ายซาอุดีฯ คือ Mr. Fahd Alsofyani ตำแหน่ง Senior Agreement Manager กระทรวงการลงทุนแห่งราชอาณาจักรซาอุดีอาระเบีย

การเจรจารอบนี้มุ่งหารือประเด็นคงค้างที่สำคัญเพื่อผลักดันความคืบหน้าในการจัดทำความตกลง BIT ระหว่างไทยกับซาอุดีอาระเบีย ซึ่งเป็นหุ้นส่วนทางเศรษฐกิจที่สำคัญของไทยในตะวันออกกลาง เพื่อสร้างกรอบกติกาที่มีความชัดเจน โปร่งใส และเอื้อต่อการดำเนินธุรกิจระหว่างกัน

การเจรจาดังกล่าวสะท้อนบทบาทของกระทรวงการต่างประเทศในการขับเคลื่อนการทูตเศรษฐกิจ (Economic Diplomacy) โดยการส่งเสริมสภาพแวดล้อมที่เอื้อต่อการลงทุนระหว่างประเทศ ความตกลง BIT จะช่วยสร้างความเชื่อมั่นของนักลงทุนและช่วยส่งเสริมการลงทุนทั้งสองทาง โดยคุ้มครองการลงทุนของภาคเอกชนไทยในซาอุดีอาระเบีย และการลงทุนของภาคเอกชนซาอุดีอาระเบียในประเทศไทย

From 28–30 April 2026, Thailand hosted the third round of negotiations on the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Thai delegation was led by Mrs. Salinee Phonprapai, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, with representatives from relevant agencies. Saudi Arabai was represented by Mr. Fahd Alsofyani, Senior Agreement Manager, Ministry of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This round of negotiations aimed to discuss key outstanding issues and move towards finalization of Thailand–Saudi Arabia BIT, with a view to establishing a clear, transparent, and business-friendly framework for bilateral investment and business operations.

BIT negotiations are part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ missions in advancing Economic Diplomacy through the promotion of a favorable environment for international investment, as well as strengthening confidence among Thai and foreign investors. The BIT, when concluded, will serve to strengthen economic cooperation between Thailand and Saudi Arabia, one of Thailand’s key partners in the Middle East. The agreement will benefit both Thai invesment in Saudi Arabia and Saudi investment in Thailand.
